About Me
I am a singer/songwriter/musician from Glasgow, Scotland, born in 1969.
I started my musical career in earnest in 1989. I'd been writing songs for a few years, but that was the year I started writing songs that were actually good! Over the coming years, I continued to write, at times working on my own (like my chief influence, the maverick American genius that is Sir Todd Rundgren), and at times in bands. However, juggling an ambitious music career, full-time work, problems with severe depression, and my devilish propensity to perfectionism, the dream got lost. I eventually conceded defeat in 2004, and abandoned music, with my tail firmly between my legs.
Although I wrote a couple of songs in 2006, I dedicated the next few years of my life to regaining my health and attempting to write screenplays. Unfortunately, it transpires, that somewhere in the world, there is always someone else writing the same film, so in 2014 I abandoned that and returned to my first love of music. Logic would suggest that the best place to start would be to work on my first album. However, that's not the way I work! Instead I began writing what I hope will one day be my second album, and then started working on the first album later. Does that make sense? I hope not!!
After close on a decade's toil, in 2023, I decided to share some of the "brilliant" results with people who I hoped would share my enthusiasm. This involved sending demos and biographies to several people at the BBC, smaller websites, a couple of lower profile musicians (who shall remain nameless), and a "leading" UK music magazine. The silence was deafening, and quite frankly soul destroying! Save for one response from Iain Key, a music journalist and presenter at Louder Than War Radio, who very kindly played my song "The Mast That Sails The Ship" on his programme. My first ever radio airplay!! Thank you so much Iain.
My plan, if I managed to find a contact in the industry, was to approach record companies to try and secure a deal, with a view of rerecording my songs in a professional studio, with a producer who actually knows what they're doing, and release it commercially.
However, with no contact, I decided to release my self recorded demos independently. After several months mastering, I finally released my debut album "Every Bullet Hit" online on 2 October 2025. You can currently find it on all major platforms, with a double CD of the album coming in a few weeks time. Follow on for more details!
